Want to Get Agile? Follow My Unique Pathway

So Agile development is all the rage. User Stories. Scrums. Sprints. Iterative Development. Testing ad Re-development.

Does that sound Agile to you? Is Agile the buzzword to success or an actual methodology for delivery success?

Not necessarily. Like any project or development methodology or process Agile is becoming encumbered, poorly understood at key points in the Agile cycle. In fact a lot of projects now mix waterfall and Agile. A marriage made in hell?

So much mix and matching, so much stakeholder and governance discomfort, so much so, Agile is not so agile any more. New concepts like Lean Agile and Rapid Agile methodology are looking to shorten cycles to get to the end deliverable quicker.

But as I always say, human psychology will always kill a good process, let a lone a poorly understood one.

Sing from the same song book! How? Well before Agile (or any new process or concept) can be used by individuals it needs to be understood. For us to understand we need to have skills, comfort, mentoring and a clear pathway to knowledge and expertise to not only use a new process or concept but for it to be part of our working DNA.

So below is my Pathway for developing that knowledge, a systematic approach to Agile that can be replaced with any other buzz word once we realize that Agile is not agile anymore...

Definitely agree with the agile mixed with waterfall and over engineering that is going on at the moment
