I wanted to highlight this key topic because there’s a lot of people that are going through this daily.

It might be something simple like for you like wanting to lose weight or wanting to become the better version of yourself, but you don’t know where to start?

Are your emotions stopping you?

When I say emotions, I mean... you feel failure all the time, or you can feel rejected? All these negative and angry emotions are these emotions that affect us! That stop us from getting to our destination. If you’re one of those people right now, I want you to raise your hand and say to me yes Nailah, that me! I’m one of these people.

It’s not easy to be completely happy all the time, it’s not. It’s okay, it’s okay to have down days, its okay to struggle, and its okay to fail!

How many people in the world could we write down on paper that have been through hardship, that have failed? That have set up a company and failed? They’ve been Olympic champions and they’ve failed?

Failing is not something we haven’t been through, so many of us fail daily.

Yes, we fail, all the time!

You might be on a diet, and you tell yourself I’m not going to eat chocolate cakes, or I’m not going to have sugar this week, or I’m going to try to be healthy. And, you see that burger, or those French fries and you crumble. You fail your objective because sometimes it happens to us. So, stop being hard on yourself, stop being so hard on yourself! We all know that life is not easy, we all know that life requires us to have a can-do attitude and a positive attitude all the time.

How many of you watching this video believe that what happens is meant to be? That everything that happens to us in life is meant to meant to be? Sometimes I look back on my career and I say to myself ‘how come my friends that worked alongside me are now HR Directors, or HR Managers or Recruitment Managers, what did I do? where did I go wrong? Sometimes we do this, you might do this?

You might look at your friends and wonder why they’re driving that sports car, that fancy car, have that big house, they have that successful career path. Why is it not you? Because this is NOT your destiny. That position that they have, or that car that they have might be killing them. They might have the car from the bank, they might have It on finance. They might be really struggling with it! They might of got that house and they’re really struggling to meet the payments of the mortgage. Don’t think the grass is greener on the other side, sometimes people that are around us are also struggling in their own way.

Everyone has something going on that can affect their happiness and well-being too. Don’t judge a book by its cover, and don’t compare yourself to others, because everyone has something going on in their life. Someone’s parents might have passed away, someone might be suffering from an illness that’s really affecting them, they might be struggling financially. Everyone has something going on in their life, so just remember that you’re not the only one.

So, my advice to you. If you want to change your mindset, and you want to live a more fulfilling happier life, you want to get the job that you want to get, you want to drive the car you want to drive, you want to travel the world, you’ve got to make sacrifices and be prepared to change. You might not find what you’re looking for on your doorstep, it might not be in the country you’re living in. It might not be in your surroundings, you might need to change your surroundings, you might need to change your perspective. You might need to do just do something differently for a change. So, what are you going to do to make a difference?

Where to start?

How about you star with a simple activity of gratitude. Have a look at what you’ve achieved in your life, what you’ve done in the last month, the great things that you’ve accomplished, and don’t say you haven’t accomplished anything! I don’t have a job, I don’t have a big house, I don’t own a house, I don’t have the car I want. I haven’t travelled the world. Trust me, we all have these days, and I know how it feels as well. Sometimes, I just want to pack my bag and travel the world, and I can’t because I’ve got things to do. We all have things that we can celebrate, like setting up a company for me, I can celebrate that. I can celebrate having a great husband, I can celebrate going to the gym and getting fit. I can celebrate living near the sea because it’s amazing. I can be grateful for having completed my master’s degree.

What are you grateful for?

Celebrate your successes, and not your failures. Celebrate all the positive things that you’ve got in your life. You might have beautiful kids, you might have beautiful animals, I’m saying animals because kids are like animals sometimes. Pets, because I have two cats. You might have achieved something really wow in your life, you might have traveled the world and seen some great countries, you might have worked alongside some great people. It could be something very, very simple like… Today, I had a great day, I helped someone out. I made a difference in the world, and I made someone else smile. Think about all those great things that you do daily, and how it adds value and brings happiness and well-being to your life.
