Want to 5X Your Results? 5X Your Applications.

Want to 5X Your Results? 5X Your Applications.

We all know people that have been searching for a job for months. Some of them are putting out lots of applications, but some are not…

Instead of measuring your success on time spent, measure actions that truly matter. Number of new jobs found, number applications submitted, number of new people met, and interviews performed. These are the activities that matter.

Work the job search like a job.

If you are working your job search like a professional, you work 40 hours per week. Here’s a breakdown of a 40 hour week of job searching:

  • 10 hours per week applying
  • 5 hours per week searching for new opportunities
  • 5 hours researching the companies you are applying to
  • 15 hours networking
  • 5 hours interviewing.?

If you get more than five hours of interviewing, great job. Tnen, you can borrow time from applying and networking.?

Do as much as possible outside of normal business hours to keep your that time free for interviews.

In a week, 5 applications per day would equate to 35 job applications. Over the course of a month, that's 150 applications. And in a year, you would have submitted 1,800 applications.?

This may sound like a lot, but keep in mind that job searching is often a numbers game. The more applications you submit, the greater your chances of landing an interview and ultimately a job.

To make the most of your 5 applications per day, it's important to be strategic about where you're applying. Spend some time researching companies and roles that align with your skills and experience. Don't waste your time applying for jobs that are outside of your qualifications or interests.

Additionally, make sure your application materials are tailored to each job you apply for. This means customizing your resume and cover letter to highlight relevant skills and experience. It's also important to follow the application instructions carefully, as some employers may have specific requirements or requests.

Finally, don't forget to network and utilize your professional connections. Networking can often lead to job opportunities that may not be advertised publicly. Reach out to former colleagues, classmates, and mentors to let them know you're actively seeking new opportunities.

Overall, submitting 5 job applications per day can be a productive and manageable goal for full-time job seekers. Remember to be strategic in your job search, tailor your application materials, and utilize your professional network to maximize your chances of success.
