WannaCry: The Cyber Zombie Apocalypse

In May 2017, the world witnessed one of the most devastating cyberattacks in history: WannaCry. This ransomware cryptoworm infected over 300,000 computers across 150 countries, exploiting a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows systems. The rapid spread and scale of WannaCry raised alarms about the potential for nation-state actors to weaponize cyberattacks and highlighted the critical importance of keeping software patched.
