Dave was an engineering apprentice helping design gadgets that would change the world – or at least the office stationery world.
One day, Dave mentioned to his boss that he built his own PC, and fixed his mums laptop from time to time. Well done, Dave!
He was then given the unofficial title of ‘Office IT Guy’.
From then on Dave spent his days untangling Bobs mouse from his keyboard cable and explaining why Ctrl + Alt + Delete wasn’t the ‘solve any issue’ option everyone thought it was.
This wasn’t what Dave signed up for, but it was fine…until the day the office got hit with ransomware.
The business was now in the s**t. Dave hadn’t bothered with security updates (who has time for that?), and worse still…
…all the office data was backed up on USB drives that were still plugged into the computers. So, of course, the ransomware had hit them, too!
Dave now had the job of breaking the news that the company’s entire IT system was encrypted, had a 100K ransom note to boot, and the only backup was as useful as a soggy Rich Tea Biscuit.
