Wanna be a great coach? Be like a puppy...

The other day I was observing a puppy in it's playpen. It was trying to escape. 

At first it was barking and crying. Trying to get the attention of the adults. 

Next it started scratching at the walls. 

After both of these attempts didn't work it jumped up and grabbed the top of the pen with it's jaws, ultimately pulling the side down and effortlessly walking out. 

This is what it takes to be a successful coach. Persistence. 

The puppy knew it's outcome (get out of the pen). It had a strategy and executed on it. When it didn't work, he changed his approach until it did. 

Once he learnt how to escape the playpen, it was no longer a barrier. He could now get out whenever we wanted because he knew the steps to get out. 

How many people do you know that give up before overcoming the obstacles holding them back? 

Now of course I'm not saying a puppy would make a better coach than you, but without the right mindset and strategies most coaches will never succeed anyway, so they will be as effective as a puppy when it comes to getting clients and creating breakthroughs. 

I was once the puppy, new to the coaching world and learning how to navigate.

It took time, it took mentors and it took trial and error but eventually I learnt how to escape the playpen and build the coaching business I had only once dreamed of. 

For you the walls of the playpen might be to get certainty on your niche, learning how to get a consistent stream of coaching clients, the skills to effectively create breakthroughs. It could be anything.

I can tell you that once you have learnt how to get out of the pen, that's where freedom comes from and you will be one step closer to the coaching business of YOUR dreams. 

I can also tell you that I was once where you are. Maybe not in the exact same circumstances as you, but I know the steps required to get you to the next level (because I have seen it and done it before). 

Sometimes all it takes is a slight change of approach and your results can be drastically disproportionate to what you are getting now and sometimes it takes massive action paired with the right strategy. 

The puppy doesn't make progress by doing nothing. Progress is made through taking action.
