On this day of the week, let our heart, mind and soul wander with some poems.
The objective of this initiative is: Poetry is an art form that helps in awakening of ‘self’. To be successful we need inner strength and calm that poetry provides in abundance. The best part is its universal!
This week Poet: William Wordsworth, (1770 – 1850) British Romantic Poet
Poem: I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud . Written around 1802.
Why I like this poem:
Wordsworth a nature poet. In this poem he internalizes nature. It is so very relevant today: we hardly have time to stop to smell roses. We are so hard pressed for time and always in a state of tension. This poem lets you relax … lets your mind wander … dream … visualize …. And then be part of the big picture. That is how I use this poem: In building culture N vision statements.
I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

5 年Reminded me my English Balbharti Book which may still have same exact words by William Wordsworth!
Great yet again ! This poem by Wadsworth is so healing. Wish the gap between the realms of reality and the realm of beautiful infinite human imagination was bridged ! Great compilation and compliments on re-introduction to what was once a poem our English teacher often made us recite and re-visit. Brought back more than just a few memories. Thanks a lot.
