About Walls
On this US election day, with the results yet unclear, I pause to think about candidate Trump's proposed grand wall along the U.S. Mexican border and why the concept has gained as much acceptance as it has. Walls, of course, separate, and this is as much true for immigrants seeking to better their lives as it is for large segments of the American population who have felt isolated from the Washington Beltway during the last two presidential terms. Whoever the next president turns out to be, let's focus on building bridges, not more walls.
