I was invited by Too Good To Go to create a collaborative mural for the main wall in their kitchen. We first had a design session that gave me a lot of ideas for the piece. Then, during a 5-hour event, teams of 3 have painted the custom mural on a 4,5 m x 2,5 m wall in their office kitchen. 15 people were involved in total and the event was a blast!
This was the first time I was able to test the concept of collaborative wallpainting for teams, and here are some takeaways.
- This is FUN! The team was really appreciating the hands-on creativity and the fact that they got to make their space more beautiful. They have just recently moved to this new office and were looking for opportunities to make it more personal so this was a great fit.
2. The team building aspect really works. People were painting in teams of three which gave an intimate setting for some talking and allowed team members to connect on a different level than usual.
3. This event is about connection. Employees get to connect to each other, to the space that surrounds them, and to their company. All of this makes for a new kind of team building activity that will hopefully ensure a daily dose of joy to the employees for a long time.
