Walkman to Electric Cars?

It was a major surprise when Sony unveiled its electronic concept car recently at the CES 2020. A lot of people got excited and felt that Sony is back with a new exciting innovation. Some felt the car had Porsche vibes and has a lot of cool tech in it. After all the noise, I started to realise that a lot of negative comments and articles began to appear which doubted whether Sony will be able to mass manufacture it or it is just a ploy to get car manufacturers to use its entertainment/sensor technology.
Interestingly, in the 80s and 90s, Sony was one the major powerhouse when it comes to consumer electronics, and they were the first introduce the portable cassette player, the iconic Walkman (1979), commercial CD player (1982), the MiniDisc (1992) and the Blu-Ray recorder (2003). However, in the last decade, they seem to have been losing out as a significant consumer electronics brand and have been producing a lot of me-too products. One reason for this decline is the emergence of the smartphone as a do-all device.
We will have to wait and see whether Sony will be back as a champion. For now, it seems that Sony has underestimated the smartphone technology and facing the brunt now.
In my opinion, every field, including medical education and healthcare, should stop ostriching smartphones and relook at it from a different perspective. Sometimes, we have to put our fear, ideas, concerns and expectations aside and speed up the adoption curve. We should get out of the paralysis by analysis situation and become an early adopter of technology. This should not be limited to smartphones only but must also include drones, virtual reality, blockchain and augmented reality.
I know some you might agree or disagree with me. It would be great to hear from you. Leave me a comment if you can.
