There is a lot of hype about Smart & Sustainable cities in India ...

Let me make it easy for all of us including the Govt. of India to appreciate the process of achieving it & a roadmap for next 5 years ..... Will give ample examples of Gurgaon where I live for the last 20 years.

1. Last mile connectivity. Even today we do not have E - Rickshaws connecting the Rapid metro & Metro stations with our homes located even near Golf course road.
2. Walk to Work & Cycling is not encouraged. Haryana Govt. has to reduce cars on the road to offer seamless & noiseless sustainable travel within the city. It is a nightmare for thousands of young men & women who travel in Dirty & Dingy autos who seem to flout all possible traffic rules.
3. Mechanised Night Cleaning of roads, drains & correct drainage before Monsoons. It is just a CHAOS today.
4. Planning a Metro along the Mumbai expressway till MEWAT & connecting it to Palwal & Manesar in next 5 years.
5. ALSO A FOOD PROCESSING ZONE IN THE NEW IMT NEAR SOHNA.
6. Providing basic facilities like Tap drinking water which is treated to the residents of MEWAT ASAP. THIS IS GRAVE INJUSTICE TO PEOPLE OF MEWAT. Ground water is depleting fast there leading to an emergency in next 2 to 3 years.
7. Seamless waste management services & providing or installing Compost machines in each residential sector.
8. WASTE TO WEALTH SOLUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE WITH CONSULTANTS LIKE ME & OTHERS IF THE GOVT. SO DESIRES TO LEVERAGE THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE IN HAND.
9. Jhuggis of the migratory manpower who works as our domestic help need PUCCA Houses. We have Jhuggis & Roadside Food joints located next to a petrol station near JALVAYU TOWERS in sector 56. IT IS A FIRE HAZARD.
10. HAPPY STREETS - EASE OF LIVING SOLUTIONS , CONNECTIVITY & COMMUNICATIONS.
11. Beautification of road sides, safety signages, leveraging the metro pillars to give an inviting look to all the people visiting Gurgaon from Abroad & from other cities in India.
12. SOLAR POWER, WATER MANAGEMENT , RECYCLING, SMART SENSORS ...
13. REAL TIME DATA SHARING WITH RESIDENTS ON Traffic, Health & other emergencies.
14. REMOVING THE TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ON GOLF COURSE ROAD SPECIALLY ON THE ROUND ABOUT NEAR SECTOR 56.
15. CYCLES ON HIRE.
16. MOHALLA CLINICS, SUBSIDISED ELECTRICITY ONLY FOR POOR.
17. A WORLD CLASS FRUITS & VEGETABLES MARKET OUTSIDE GURGAON TO DECONGEST AZADPUR MANDI IN DELHI.
18. HELIPORT, Runway for AERO SPORTS like Microlight & Motorised Para gliding. More lakes.
19. PICNIC SPOTS FOR BIRDING & ANGLING.
20. RURAL TOURISM IN SOHNA & MEWAT WHILE CONSERVING THE ARAVALIS.
21. SMART CITIZENS WORKSHOPS BY NGOs.
22. LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST ORGANIC FARMING BY CITIZENS GROUPS. We can grow as well as plant one CRORE trees ,flowers, fruit bearing trees in this monsoons.
