Walking, a soundtrack?
Paul Nazareth, MFA-P
Generosity Educator I Instructor, Canadian Association of Gift Planners I TEDx Speaker
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine
Say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance(Dancé!)
One of my greatest mentors says, almost daily - "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good" . Now I do too.
And while I've been mostly in bed resting and recuperating from our walk, a new part of my health journey - I want to share something beautiful with you.
Yes, we started with the saftey dance ( you know the one, "what do you do... ) and we started rocking, rolling and thinking together and by ourselves.
Yes, I made everyone space out and listen to Bowie's Heroes - our collective attention-deficit making us all itchy - uncomfortable sitting for even a moment in the POWER of our own POTENTIAL
Thank you to all those who came out, we always start with a big group and lose a few over the walk. But to be back on campus, and in Queen's Park Park where I'll be hanging out Sep 28/29 at the Word on the Street Festival as a bored member having too much fun with Words and seeing what the poets are doing!
I dare you to listen to this soundtrack and take a walk... you will find a lot of feelings but on the last song, reflect on the fact that whilst you're doing the mortal-coil-shuffle there won't be a performance review and NO bonus if your life just "met expectations" when you listen to this song, walk, alone and ask...
Why not me?
Why not my dreams?
I started #netwalkTO over a decade ago ( more history and links ) , always free - a mad scientist stage for me and a safe space of experimentation for those who join me for the mess. But after my TEDx Talk at UofT last year I have companies, organizations and leaders asking me to host netwalks all over the WORLD. WHAT?!?!
Your dreams are always possible. Your network wants to help.
Walk on friends ??
*Hope to see some peers in Toronto on Sep 17 for Cindy Wagman & Rickesh Lakhani 's Nonprofit Picnic!
