Walking 1,000,000 steps for charity!
Earlier this year my 8-year-old son, Thomas was diagnosed as being autistic and together, we wanted to find a way to help raise awareness and acceptance of the condition and hopefully break down the barriers it puts in front of the person.
We are lucky to have our own black Labrador called Jaspar and it was only whilst talking to Thomas we realised how important he was in helping him cope with the condition. We set a challenge that started in early June for Thomas to walk 1,000,000 steps for charity and because of the positive impact Jaspar has had on the whole family unit we selected the Dogs for Autism charity who train puppies to become autism assistance dogs.
Thomas’ goal is to raise at least £2,500 to go towards the £20,000 cost of training a dog to the level required to become an autism assistance dog.
Thomas is now 4 weeks into his challenge and has so far clocked up a massive 183,941 steps.
If you can spare even £1 then please visit our fundraising page by using this link and don’t forget gift aid to increase the donation without any additional cost to you.
