'Walker, there is no road. The road is made as you walk.'

Just like the Spanish poet, Antonio Machado avidly stated:

'Walker, there is no road. The road is made as you walk.'

Indeed, you make your own journey. But this isn't paved for you. It is rough, patchy, confusing, and sometimes, scary. So, how do we train or rather facilitate the younger generations with the wisdom to build their own bridges? (and burn them, too!).

What are the 'keys'?

  1. Share:

You have to share what you have. Cooperation vs. Confrontation.

Bertrand Russell said: "What are we in the world for?" For two things: to expand knowledge and to expand love." Russell is well-known for his 600-page manuscript 'Human Knowledge' with is a logical analysis of all the disciplines in addition to his cunning conclusions about humanity: "All human knowledge is uncertain, inexact and partial." Avoiding dogmatism could be one of the core lessons extracted from his words as dogmatism leads nowhere, be it on the right, on the left, or in neutrality. Because life isn't meant to be formed by poles or grey areas. That's the beauty. The limbo.

2. Critical Thinking:

In addition to this, you must ensure to develop an original point of view, a point of view that you try to be. It may not always be achieved, but you seek the truth through criticism, through self-criticism, and through what you can contribute. The truth is ultimately subjective, but it's yours. Hence, critical thinking isn't a skill, but a survival tool. If you are articulate, you may just make it alive.

3. Carpe Diem:

In the same way, students may enroll in a university but the university may not enroll in them. Because the physical world is one minor aspect but organizations, universities, and governments, aren't really made of tactile features. The person is the trip. You need to know your 'logos' (refer to C. Jung).

4. Time:

There is no actual definition for "time". We notice that there is time because we grow old. Maybe time passes through us, or we can through it. Who knows. But something is certain, time teaches us to be grateful for what we have (and with whom we are). It teaches us how idiotic and emotionally loaded we can become. Perhaps the core lesson is to decide whether we want to get busy living or get busy dying.

Ultimately, you must find your way. Circling back to Machado 'Walker, there is no road. The road is made as you walk.'
