The walk your are going to take is truly in your 'minds' - HNY 2019

Earlier this month, someone mentioned to me that you cannot improve on ‘Perfection’.

That was an appraisal discussion so all such fashionable quotes are allowed :)

Look at it again. In the current outwardly global, dynamically changing, text / tweet based world, the word ‘perfection’ has NO other choice but to become ‘relative’ noun.

Let me remind you about the age old anecdote covering the once impossible ‘four minute a mile’ goal for athletes.

This target was considered just not achievable for ages. Our ancestors believed that it is simply not humanly possible to run at this speed - beating the bone structure and center of gravity of humans.

These notions prevailed until one fine morning Roger Bannister made this possible, much to the surprise of doctors, trainers and other nay-sayers.

Interestingly, the next year 35+ athletes achieved this milestone – so the block of was just mental and not physical !!!

Similarly, market cap of a Trillion USD was unheard of until Apple reached it this year. We now know that others like Amazon are close on the heels to make it to the mark sooner or later.

India’s badminton player P V Sindhu reached seven finals this year – just to be called as the ‘Silver Star’. All she needed was one more push to bite that medal….

She finally hit a Gold earlier this year to ascertain herself as an undisputed champion.

When Sunil Gavaskar compiled 10 K runs in cricket, we called him God. Subsequently, we had a line-up of other ‘Gods’ to join this elite club. Remarkably, this very year Kohli made it to 10K runs club, just in 205 innings !

I am sure, the likes of Pruthvi Shah will be raring to go at this record in much lesser time.

Last week, one of our colleagues was explaining to me about how Jio Digital has disrupted the Internet business in India, this year. Wait for the power of Innovative services like Wifi-Dabba to give Jio or other internet providers a run for their money in the coming year. Innovation, is truly limitless and relentless !

All these are true testimonials of ‘potential’ turning out to be ‘winner’ - stories of what we can achieve with self-belief, upgrading our capabilities and more importantly with a focused mind !
