Walk in the Light

Today's devotional is from Your Life Matters: Daily Devotions from the Psalms

"Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord" - Psalm 89:15.

The word acclaim is not often used as a verb, but it means "to praise enthusiastically and often publicly." What's more, the people who acclaim the Lord and walk in the light of His presence are called blessed. What does it mean to walk in God's light? John explained it in his epistle when he wrote,

"God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:5b-9).

Are you walking in the light by confessing your sins? Do you deny it when you are wrong or make excuses just like Adam and Eve did when they sinned? Or do you accept responsibility for your shortcomings? If you do, then the Bible says you are a blessed person.
