A Walk with God: Coming Back from Distraction
We all need a center. All businesses, relationships, creative endeavors need a true north. I work a lot with maps and every map must have a frame of reference or we are lost and even the most detailed map is useless.
Being a creative person allows one to see the universe, people, places, and things in many different perspectives and it can be overwhelming. Get used to social media browsing and suddenly you are in a movie where you've forgotten all your lines and your character becomes only a spectator in a once epic tale.
This morning I walked Ranger and I listened to the birds, I watched the shadows reach across the lawns of suburbia and I felt that loneliness of being in a neighborhood where you never see neighbors.
Loneliness, binging on social, getting lost in what is missing: all of these are distractions and they scream of something very integral missing: our center. I have always been faithful and despite being raised catholic, it is the feeling that I have experienced in daily life that has strengthened my faith.

Over the recent months I have become distracted. I have written a whole series about a walk with God and this is my humble return.
The world is one great distraction-we are drawn like moths to artificial light. Loneliness, hurt, despair; all allow us the ability to go against our principles and values. Temptation is a universal thing and at times, it wins.
I am in the process of doing new and exciting things with all of my creative pursuits and I have lost my anchor. Raising my son was my anchor even if my faith weakened, I had someone to hold me accountable, to be the best I could be-when a child grows up and starts living the life you hoped they would- a parent needs to rediscover themselves and their anchor.
Today, I walked the dog and got reaquainted with an old friend; the light was beautiful.
