A Letter To The American Public?

It pains me to see how unhealthy people really are. And what’s more, they are wearing blinders to their own medical problems. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat down with a patient and they’ve told me, “I have a clean bill of health,” but instantly, I can tell just by looking at them they have some medical issue.??

According to a recent study done by the University of North Carolina, only 1 in 8 Americans have satisfactory metabolic health, meaning that you are likely at risk for Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other deadly health problems. I want you to think about that for a moment: You are statistically likely to either have serious health problems or are heading in that direction.?

It saddens me that most people don’t even know what healthy looks like. They walk around feeling sick or with pain and think it’s normal. They have lived with an illness or a medical condition for so long that they forget what it was like to feel healthy. I’m beyond frustrated that the system has failed you because it’s not your fault that this is happening. Our medical system thrives on treating your illnesses, but not curing them.?

Just the other day, I was listening to the radio for a kidney supplement that was advertising itself as a shortcut, a quick fix to better health. But the truth is, that there are no quick fixes. The system is designed to give you a band-aid approach that doesn’t really work or doesn’t address the underlying issue that made you sick in the first place.?

People need to wake up and become aware of what is happening to their bodies. You need to take control of your own health—and you need to do it now, before it’s too late. While pills have their place in the healthcare system, they aren’t the answer. Because physicians are overwhelmed with the number of patients they see, it’s just easier for them to dole out prescriptions than take the time to actually dive deeper. Don’t let that happen to you! Ensure your healthcare provider considers your entire body and isn’t treating just one symptom. You deserve better.?

The Future of Brain Health: Photobiomodulation

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a cutting-edge, non-surgical treatment that uses light energy to stimulate cellular function. It is being used to significantly improve cognitive functions, especially in patients with traumatic brain injuries. By stimulating tiny molecules located in brain cells, photobiomodulation can encourage the repair and even the growth of new brain cells, a process known as neurogenesis. This gives doctors exciting possibilities for patients to improve cognitive functionality and recovery from neurological damage.

Studies have shown PBM has even helped treat patients with clinical depression. Instead of treating depression with medication, doctors now how to have a non-invasive option. While PBM has been around since the 1960s, it has only recently been used in patients suffering from depression who have shown significant improvements in symptoms, allowing for patients to make a faster and fuller recover than other forms of treatment.?

Lastly, in neurodegenerative conditions like dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease, PBM therapy has also shown promising results. Patients have experienced improvements in cognition, quality of life, and memory. As a non-pharmacological intervention, PBM offers an exciting alternative for individuals seeking treatments with fewer side effects compared to traditional medications.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Paolo Cassano from Harvard Medical School, who shared groundbreaking insights into the potential of light therapy for brain health. Throughout our conversation, one thing became clear: photobiomodulation is transformative in addressing some of the most challenging neurological conditions which allow patients to recover quicker with fewer side effects.?

Two Stories Of Determination?

I’m incredibly excited to share with you these two new podcasts that have just been released. The first is an interview with Dr. Richard Hart. I was blown away by his story about perseverance against what seemed like insurmountable odds.

He went from Canadian champion wrestler to revolutionary surgeon and entrepreneur, overcoming incredible adversity that inspires us all to push the boundaries of what we believe is possible.

Despite his small stature of 5’2’’, Dr. Hart wanted to become a wrestler. He was told time and again that he would never succeed because of his height. But instead of accepting that fate, he fought his way to become the Canadian national champion wrestler. He mastered the art of focus and discipline, thriving in a world where every second and decision can make or break a career.?

Dr. Hart struggled with expectations, and even after suffering an injury and walking away from the sport for eight months, Dr. Hart found a way to persevere. After his wrestling career, Dr. Hart became a doctor. Again, many doubted his abilities, telling him he couldn’t succeed in medical school. But just as he had on the wrestling mat, Dr. Hart defied the odds once again. He became a renowned surgeon and against all odds, created one of the most advanced programs in habitability surgery in Canada. However, with great success came great pressure, and like many high-achievers, Dr. Hart burned himself out which led him to take a step back from medicine.?

However, Dr. Hart recovered and founded NextGen Surgery, a revolutionary company that merges cutting-edge technology with the human mind to train healthcare professionals on how to stay calm under pressure. Using mixed reality combined with EEG neurofeedback, NextGen Surgery trains surgeons and healthcare workers to self-regulate their stress in the most high-stakes environments. Through mock surgeries with intense distractions, this technology helps professionals remain laser-focused when everything around them is falling apart.

His groundbreaking technology is aimed at helping healthcare professionals focus on the task at hand, regulate their emotions, and avoid burnout. The ability to perform under pressure, whether in a wrestling match or an operating room, is a skill Dr. Hart has mastered, and he’s now teaching others how to do the same.

In my newest podcast, I interviewed a true legion. Born into a working-class family, Rudy Ruettiger lacked the academic qualifications and the financial means to attend his dream college of Notre Dame. To add to these challenges, he was smaller and less physically gifted than most aspiring college football players.?

In 1972, Rudy visited Notre Dame but was not eligible to enroll due to his academic standing, but with the support of Father John Cavanaugh, Rudy took a step closer by enrolling at Holy Cross College with the goal of eventually transferring to Notre Dame.

Rudy improved his academic standing, but the road ahead was still difficult. After two years and three rejections, Rudy was finally accepted into Notre Dame. Rudy tried out for the football team as a walk-on, aware that the odds of making it were slim. However, Rudy's grit and determination impressed Coach Dan Devine, who gave him a spot on the practice squad. Despite never getting to play in a game, Rudy's passion and perseverance earned the respect of his teammates.

Finally, in the last game of the season, Rudy got his moment, suited up and went on the field to play. In the last moments of the game, Rudy made a crucial sack, becoming the last player to be carried off the field by his teammates in Notre Dame's history.

Rudy’s story is one of unwavering belief, relentless pursuit of a dream, and the power of persistence. It reminds us that success is not always about physical talent but about heart, determination, and never giving up, even when the odds seem stacked against us.

Thanks as always for reading. Please check out my podcasts, and don’t forget to hit the bell icon for updates. Talk to you soon,?

Dr. Sinicropi

It's truly disheartening to witness the prevalence of undetected health issues in so many individuals. Your dedication to addressing the systemic problems in our healthcare system and shedding light on the potential of Photobiomodulation is commendable.

I sooo agree, Stefano M. Sinicropi, MD! Being "unwell" became the norm (without being noticed) and people don't know how it feels to be ??.
