Waking Up After A Sleep In The Park
Last Saturday night, on one of the coldest nights of the year along with my colleagues Karen, Gillian, Jaco and Iain we joined over 8000 people to spend the night in Princes Street Gardens, here in the heart of Edinburgh, as part of the World’s biggest sleepout ‘Sleep in the Park’.
Organised by Josh Littlejohn co-founder of Social Bite and his team who help the homeless through cafes, a restaurant and fundraising events, it was a humbling experience and certainly one I was proud to take part in. The amount that has been raised is incredible standing currently at £3.6 million, 163 job offers and 495 homes available within the next 18 months.
With 11,000 homeless households in Scotland, the statistics aren’t insurmountable. Scotland is a small enough country and the compassion of all those who slept out in the freezing conditions was evident that nobody needs to be homeless and collectively people can pull together to help.
Thank you from me and the team to everyone who sponsored us, and we are pleased to announce that your donations are totaling £6,198 but it’s still possible to donate via the link on the right, as it is live till Christmas. Please donate HERE
We couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone and we hope Sleep In The Park goes onto bigger and better things for next year. To find out more, please check out this short video below about the event.
