Wake Up Call - Part ?

Sports have been feeling the pain of the aging traditional audience and fickle attention deficit millennial audience trends for some time now. These trends are finally getting noticed as they catch up with the Tier One Sports and major events like World Cup and Olympics.

We have witnessed these trends affecting MotorSports for some time now with the downward pressure of viewing and gate revenue. Additionally sponsors and advertisers are scratching their heads on how to connect with the new audience. Those rights holders that once scoffed at Internet and mobile consumption are now scrambling to react to a sea change of audience behavior. Adjacent industries like horse racing are equally feeling the pinch and are seemingly stuck with an appropriate response to the attrition of audience.

The good news is that the networks to deliver and the technology to immerse and engage these emerging audiences are ready for the call to action. It is easier than ever to get your message across formats & mediums. The remaining challenge is to get your audience to show up and your advertisers and sponsors to keep paying the bills. It is not good enough just to dump your linear content to these new outlets. Get social, get Interactive, get out of your own way folks. Make your product interactive and immersive and you will have a shot at growth. Stay in your comfortable rut and risk continued contraction and possibly extinction. Don't wait for 'zero day', open your eyes...learn, adapt & innovate and you just might surprise yourself with renewed interest in your product.
