Remember when.........a few years ago when the economy slowed, corporations pulled the plug on in-service technical training, for profit colleges cut budgets, and state and federal governments hacked funding for technical schools and colleges.... it caused an arterial air embolism in America's arteries. Our technical schools and colleges seem to be managed the same way corporations are managed - profit quarterly at any cost! It might take a few hours to produce an automobile, but it takes at the very least, two years for a technical college to produce a high quality "product." People that operate with a "short term" mentality should not run colleges that can only produce superb products every two years. It is going to take two years for the "system" to catch up. By that time the economy will slow down, and our country will suffer yet another arterial air embolism. I am not a very smart guy, but it seems so logical. Invest heavily in technical education when the economy slows, and people are available, and have highly skilled workers available when the "help wanted" signs go up! Dah!
