Waiting for...
Dean Repper
Idler and creative, amateur pickler (ball) Ai master, failed yoga student, previous NHS, digital entrepreneur, Trustee.
Setting: A dusty roadside. Two figures, Alex and Jamie, sit on a worn bench, a digital device in Alex's hand.
Alex: (staring at the device) You know, asking this AI about weather is like asking about life itself. Broad and unpredictable.
Jamie: (quizzically) How so?
Alex: Well, it's like... when you ask something so vast, where does it even begin? Like us waiting here, for something, or someone, we can't quite define.
Jamie: True, but unlike Godot, the AI tries to make sense of our questions. It breaks them down, analyses...
Alex: (interrupting) But how does it know what we're really after? Whether I want today's weather or the reason for the seasons?
Jamie: I suppose it's about interpretation. Like an actor finding meaning in a script. It looks for clues, context.
Alex: And if it's unsure, it might ask for more, like a conversation. Not just a one-way street.
Jamie: Exactly. It's an interaction, a dance of sorts. We lead with our questions, and it follows, sometimes stepping on toes.
Alex: (laughs) And in the end, maybe we get an answer, maybe we don't. Just like waiting for Godot.
Jamie: Precisely. But in the asking and the waiting, we find our own meaning, our own understanding of the world.
Alex: (smiling) And maybe that's enough. For now.
(They both look off into the distance, the AI device forgotten between them.)
