Wait till you hear this Story!!!

Let me double-check here...

We are in the 21st Century, right?

We have some friends who are living in the 1970's.

They don't even have cell phones!

So, of course, no computers or iPads, or the like.

They are so paranoid about being tracked by the government or powers that be that they refuse to use anything techie.

However, they do have a credit card.

-AND they do have a new truck!

Here is the schtick:

1. As soon as you use your credit card, you are tracked to where you used it instantly.
2. If your vehicle was build since 1990, it is equipped with a tracking chip. So, as soon as you drive anywhere, the GPS has you dead to rights.

On Monday our friends had arranged to have new flooring installed in their home.

Nothing strange about that...

Pretty straight forward wouldn't you think?

But...

Now the old forced air vent covers won't fit!

Oh my!

Well, you probably wouldn't think too much about that either...

Until you decide to go purchase ones to fit those new openings.

Here's what happened:

Our friend went to a couple of places to find the heat register covers that were the correct size and finally found the right ones.

So, he decided to purchase them on the spot.

He pulled out his wallet prepared to pay cash.

Know what he was told!

"We don't take cash here."

He about dropped his teeth, and his teeth aren't false!

So he proceeded to pull out his credit card.

Now this was a brand new card never before been used.

The instructions said to just use the original pin that had been sent to him and that would register the card no problem.

But it did not work.

They swiped the card twice and both times it was declined.

So then, not having a cell phone, he asked to use their phone to call his bank.

-And was promptly told, "No."

Then he asked if there was a pay phone anywhere around there close.

Nobody knew of one, so he left the store to go find a phone.

Well, can you think of any pay phones anywhere these days?

Finally, he went to another business, where he had done business before and asked them if he could please use their phone.

They obliged and he called his bank.

Come to find out that the bank had sent the passcode to the wrong place!!!

You see, we live in a small town where they don't have door-to-door mail delivery.

We have to go to a post office to get our mail.

No wonder he had the wrong pin!

So he explained what had happened and asked the bank to give him his pin number.

Then he had to drive to heck and gone and find the place where he needed to make his purchase...again!

Done-Dilly-Un-Done-Day!

What a carry-on!

Aren't you glad you have a cell phone...

And a computer!

As soon as he got back home, he called me to give me his song and dance.

This reminds me of so many small business owners that I know and how many of them are not equipped for 21st Century marketing.

Most do not have a CRM, or any SEO, or Texting capabilities, or Customer Review software, or lead capture funnels, or a digital business card.

In this day and age, these are key components for running a good, solid business.
