The WAIT is Over: Waitlists, Websites and Start-up Life
My newsletter this week is written with a slightly different purpose. Don’t worry, I’m not going to go all self indulgent on you (not yet anyway), but I want to take a moment to acknowledge just how far we’ve come at TheHIVE over the last 6 months as we open our waitlist for the first adopters of our Staff Sharing platform.?
This week we’ve achieved 2 major milestones; launching our brand new website AND the opening of our waitlist .
Even typing this I feel that I’m not giving these milestones the recognition they deserve. I have smiled a lot this week - the team and I have supported, challenged and celebrated our achievements continuously and yet we know this is just the beginning of our journey.
When I first created the concept of TheHIVE, I was working in the tech sector managing multiple B2B and B2G projects. I saw first hand the challenges involved in flexible recruitment and the impact of the peaks and troughs of workflow that all businesses experience at one time or another.
The scarcity of great talent, having to let talented staff go through unwanted redundancy, too much work followed by not enough work -? it was like a lightbulb went off in my head and I thought “why not apply a sharing-economy model to staffing, where talented staff are shared between businesses?” And that is when TheHIVE was born. This I know is the key to sustainable talent retention and development.

And now to bring us back to this moment. Sitting in my home office, having just ended a call with the team, I realised that even though we have just achieved these huge milestones in our journey, for the most part, we talked about what we are going to prioritise next. That’s start-up life for you right there!??
And of course we’re going to do that - opening TheHIVE waitlist is the starting point of our journey, but it’s also important to take a moment to pause and recognise the progress we have made - and that progress is down to our team and our loyal community members at TheHIVE.?
Without our early members of TheHIVE (you know who you are), I’m not sure we would have been able to prove just how effective Staff Sharing is for businesses.?
The future of work is changing and the feedback received from our community on how their loaned team members have developed, and on the quality of borrowed staff is just wonderful. Not to mention the unwanted redundancies we’ve helped to prevent. This feedback will continue to shape TheHIVE as we support businesses with Staff Sharing through this economic crisis and beyond.?In fact, I posted a video on LinkedIn on this very topic a few weeks ago.
