Wait and Hope
“There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, Morrel, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life. “Live, then, and be happy, beloved children of my heart, and never forget, that until the day God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words, ‘Wait and Hope.” — Alexandre Dumas
Hey there, hi there, ho there, welcome to the mind of a man that has been alive 18,643 days. What have I done with that time? Well, that is up for debate, I made some kids, made some love, built a business, and now I sit ready to embark on a three-day adventure with my Queen and our pup? That is my life, what is yours?
We got about 5 inches last night; that’s called Asian porn snow, not sure why, but that’s what the locals told me when I moved in. My pup about 3 feet away just launched a gastronomical bomb; I had no idea that dogs farted this much. Get a dog, they said! My Queen and I have a deal that we do not pass gas in front of one another; the dog has yet to get this memo. At our age, farts are not funny.
We will get in our Toyota Forerunner in a couple of hours and begin our 18-hour trek back east. It sounds like a long haul, but we break it down into three six-hour chunks driving two hours and stopping to let PVHT stretch her legs. It’s a beautiful way to travel and see our country.
On a call the other day, I was with a lady who shared that she had flew from Denver to Atlanta before the pandemic for a one-hour meeting and then returned home. Imagine the time and energy that meeting took that we now understand can be done virtually. The time she invested will never be reclaimed; we’ve learned a few new tricks this last year; let’s not return to our silly ways.
I think there will be a divide moving forward. Those that lean into the virtual life and those that “need to see you face to face.” I’m a man with both types of clients; moving forward, I’ll be working with those that utilize the virtual world but occasionally don’t mind face to face. The virtual world is so much more efficient than meeting face to face. Oh my goodness, what if you lose a client that demands your presence? You do you; I’ll do me.
I downloaded our audiobook for our trip. We listen to a book when traveling; it helps pass the time and helps open our minds to new ideas. The book I choose was The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It sounded like something that might bend our minds; we like mind-bending.
I just got a text from a Denver friend that flew to Indy; he stayed at our home, we have offered it to those that need a place to stay, but that will end soon. We’re putting our assets to work for us, earning some flow income when we are back west. We will begin leasing our home to corporations when gone and also turning our offices into coworking spaces. The idea of flow income is aphrodisiac. Mom, what does that mean?
So a morning of packing a little bag to get us back east. Our company will stay another day; we open our homes to friends and family. We’re booking company for this summer, Red Rocks will be open, we are back in the business of hosting our friends and family to the best concert venue in the world located roughly 23 minutes from our home.
We got home yesterday from our travels and played Euchre. I think the men trumped the women, and then we had hot dogs from our magical hot dog steamers. It cooks the dogs and steams the buns, a wise investment for any household. For $39.99, your life can be changed as well.
When we’re gone, Bay will stay here at our home. She will take care of our cats, our plants and enjoy living on top of a mountain. She’s got her a new boy, a young man from Indy that she seems sweet on, I’ve yet to meet her prince, but I’m sure he’s a good fellow. It’s fun watching your kids go and grow.
One might wonder if we like heading back East, and the answer is yes. First, I’ve got a grandkid back there; M and M’s need some Granson time. I’d like to see all our kids, my mother and father, and my valley living friends. I’ll miss my mountain top dwellers. But I will hang with them soon enough.
I’m taking some Folgers Black Silk coffee home with me. If you like coffee, check out FBS; you will not be disappointed. I’m just here to give life hacks for people looking for low-cost treasure and let me tell you, FBS is a treasure that you should try if you like coffee. You can get three large tubs on Amazon here:
Or you can visit your local vendor of coffee and pick up the same. What do you think about Amazon taking over America? It’s happening; no longer do you need to “go to the store.” Just get on your phone, your iPad, your computer and order what you want and in two hours, yes Martha, two hours everything you want will be delivered to your door.
I ran a call with a kid in Michigan last week; he was sharing they now have weed delivery to his door. It boggles my mind how society has shifted these past couple of years; take note, we are moving in a new direction; some of it’s good, some bad, welcome to the roaring ’20s. These days it’s best if you have a surfboard to ride these new waves; you can’t work like it’s 2019 anymore; the clock has moved forward, speaking of, isn’t it time to change our clocks.
There, words, ideas, and mind potions are shared to get you thinking a bit differently—nothing earth-shattering or groundbreaking, but some items that may or may not change your life if ordered. I’ll catch up with you from a riverfront property in Kansas tomorrow; for now, enjoy this Monday; it’s the best day of your life as far as you know.
