Wait! Don't Hit "Send"!

Ever hit “send” on an email or text that felt so right in the moment, only to watch in horror as the fallout begins almost immediately? (Spoiler alert – I’ve been there too).
It’s the digital equivalent of swinging a sword, only to realize you just slashed your own foot. From sarcastic retorts to all-caps complaints, hasty messages can become memorable… for all the wrong reasons.
That immediate satisfaction of a hastily typed response? It fades fast when you’re explaining to your boss why you suggested a new project “made about as much sense as her third husband.”
Whoops.
Or when that sassy text you meant for your friend lands in the family group chat, leaving Aunt Janice wondering if she’s the "glorified adult babysitter" you were talking about. You’ve hit “send,” and now you’re the proud owner of a situation that’ll linger longer than that last awkward company party.
So, how do you avoid becoming the office legend for all the wrong reasons?
First, ask yourself, “Is this the sword I want to fall on?”
Triple-checking every email or text before you send it is a golden rule for a reason. Reread your message through different lenses—friendly? Check. Professional? Double check. Not likely to offend the intern who sits behind you? Triple check.
And remember, whatever you put in writing is basically a tattoo on the cloud. It’s FOREVER, maybe longer!
For the really heated situations, let your draft sit. Walk away. Get a snack, a coffee, maybe even lunch. Then, come back and see if it still reads like a message you’d want to be etched into office lore.
Communicate responsibly! In an era where forwarding an email is as easy as breathing, it’s best to think twice (or three times). In the end, nobody wants their legacy to be “Remember that time he sent that email?”

30 Seconds with Mark
One of the most common yet challenging questions in a networking or interview setting is, “Tell me about yourself.” Many people start with their life story or a detailed recap of their background. But here’s the thing: your new connection or interviewer isn’t looking for your autobiography.
When faced with this question, it’s your opportunity to showcase what you bring to the table—what makes you interesting, valuable, and the right fit.
Why should you focus on what you bring to the table rather than your full biography?
Frame your answer to leave your listener thinking, “This is someone I need to know more about.”
Go get 'em!
