Wade Adams utilizing MOBA BIG SONIC SKI in their urban Dubai Road projects.
The evolving landscape of fast developing economies enforce substantial infrastructure and strategic urban planning to keep up with the high population growth. Such a paradigm is being witnessed in Dubai, UAE where the burgeoning population is straining the current infrastructure road network leading to constant and long traffic delays on major highways. As part of strategic expansion, the RTA planned a network of ramps to serve as alternate entry/exit routes to ease traffic flow and regulate traffic volume. Case in point, RTA planned a series of entry/exit ramps on E311, a major highway that connects financial district, downtown Dubai and beyond to Industrial and residential areas from South Dubai.
A network of 5 bridges at key intersections were proposed spanning 3,300m. This venture was awarded to Wade Adams Contracting LLC a leading general construction and project development company with 4 decades of experience in Gulf region. With a stipulated timeline of 6 months for first 3 bridges and additional 2 months of remainder 2 bridges, time was of the essence to pave close to 70,000 ton asphalt. Wade Adams relied on MOBA paving technology, mainly the Big Sonic Ski to achieve paving quality and rideability requirements. Installed on a vogele 1800-3 SUPER asphalt finisher, the paving crew were trained and supported by MOBA engineers. Quick and easy install allows the big ski to connect directly with the paver’s controller.
Asphalt was paved round the clock. Lane closures on a multilane highway is tricky and the crew needed to be ready at moment’s notice to start laying asphalt. Flexibility to workday or night with the big ski enabled the crew to setup and get going always.
