Focusing on What Works Well lets you approach growth from a position of strength, reinforcing your name and reputation as a trusted authority who delivers reliable, measurable outcomes. How do you find your ideal "stage"?

Finding Your “Stage” for Maximum Visibility

To become KNOWN to your ideal clients, it’s essential to identify the “stage” where you naturally thrive as an expert. That doesn't mean you always stay on that stage, it simply gives you a kickstart!

This "stage" is your platform for demonstrating your authority, and it could take many forms: in-person workshops, speaking events, online courses, or specialised panels, podcast guesting, hosting and more. The key is to find the one that lets you engage confidently and authentically with your audience, so they see you as both approachable and credible.

How to Determine Your Stage:

  1. Reflect on Your Strengths: Think about where you feel most energised. Are you at your best during face-to-face discussions, where you can read the room and interact in real time? Or do you thrive in a more structured environment, like online courses, where you have time to carefully craft your message? Are you better contributing to a discussion rather than presenting on your own? Are audio formats better than video? Lean into the setting that feels most natural, as that will amplify your confidence and authenticity.
  2. Consider Your Ideal Client’s Habits: Put yourself in your clients’ shoes. Do they tend to attend in-person events, tune into podcasts, or engage with industry leaders in published articles? Understanding their habits helps you choose the right platforms to get noticed by those who value your expertise.
  3. Experiment with Options: Try a variety of “stages” to discover which platform resonates with you and connects you with your audience. Whether it’s through speaking engagements, published articles, small group masterminds, or panels, test different formats to see what aligns best with your style and brings you closer to your ideal clients.

Pro Tip: Your stage should feel natural, empowering you to present your best self. When your platform fits your strengths, your confidence shines through, making it easier for potential clients to view you as a credible authority and go-to expert in your field. This authenticity is what helps turn visibility into trust, setting the foundation for long-term client relationships.

Real Life Example: One of my Kn.o.wn clients comes alive when asked challenging industry questions, she passionately articulates very clever responses which makes everyone stop and listen. To my surprise, when I suggested it, she told me she felt really uncomfortable doing public speaking, she wasn't ready for that stage. So I recently recorded a series of videos of asking her curiously hard industry questions. Then I clipped the videos using a simple AI tool so she's the only one visible in the recordings. She's used these videos in multiple places to reinforce her expertise and the feedback is really positive. For now, recorded video and live interviews are working as "her stage".

Feel Like an Imposter? Here’s How to Use It to Your Advantage.

"Play small, don't stand out too much, you really don't know your subject, therefore you're not an industry expert and don't deserve to be Kn.o.wn!"

Imposter syndrome is actually proof that your voice is getting stronger, be ready to say yes to new opportunities to become well-Kn.o.wn!

Instead of listening to self-doubt, try these strategies to move forward:

  • Claim Your Expertise: you have unique value drivers that clients can’t get anywhere else. Let these strengths remind you why clients are drawn to your perspective, trust that your insight is what they need.
  • Highlight Real Impact: Reflect on one client success story this week. Celebrate the specific ways you’ve made a difference. Keeping these outcomes top of mind not only validates your work but builds confidence to tackle even bigger projects. I know several people who keep a "Client Success Folder (CSF)" for those Imposter Syndrome moments!
  • Build on Small Wins: Accept opportunities that align with your strengths, and let each success build momentum. Each small win isn’t just a confidence boost; it’s proof of your progress and a foundation for reaching high-level clients. If you get asked to do something outside of your comfort zone but aligned with your mission, don't allow your immediate response to be No, let it be "I'll consider that and get back to you", or even - "Yes!"

Own it—each small step makes you more KNOWN for the work only you can do.

Great article Nicki Osbaldiston - I really enjoyed it! What if your stage were being a host of some sort - you mentioned podcast host, but it could be hosting an event, a panel etc where the guests/speakers are connections or collaborators you have selected?
