Wished it was Friday

Wished it was Friday

It was a Monday morning a few years ago.

?I was a solopreneur in my executive search firm, Diamond Executive Search.

?I fired up my computer. There it was. A list of to-dos.?

?I need to identify three great candidates and present them to for a search; work on a client outreach email, and the daily forty client calls, and three one hour sessions of spin class.?

?Week after week, this was my routine.?

?Except this Monday, I felt overwhelmed. I wished it was Friday afternoon.?

?I worked through my fatigue through Thursday afternoon.

?But I was not feeling the passion. I was more than a little burnt out.?

?Ever been there??

?It was Friday morning at 7:30. I was eating breakfast and looking at the garden.?

?After an internal debate with myself, I concluded that the vegetable garden needed weeding and watering. And there were some cucumbers and bell peppers ready to harvest.

?Then the driveway needed edging.?

?And the lawn needed cutting and then the driveway and patio needed to be blown off.?

?It was not yet noon and I was mentally and physically exhausted.?

?After a shower and nap, I thought about why I blew off work.

?I needed a better plan.?

?I started with looking at my priorities, both personally and professionally.?

?I looked at what I was doing and if there was a better way of doing it, what tasks were most important, and if I could trust someone else to help me with things that were not my highest value tasks.?

?And could I reward myself when I reached my goals for the week before Friday at 5:00pm?

?It’s a process that I needed to take myself through.?

?Since then, it’s something that I have helped my clients with.

?If you are feeling busy but not productive, or feeling overwhelmed, I can help.

?Please reply to this post or send me a message and we'll figure out how to work on it together.?

?Thanks for reading.

?Until next week,

?Mark
