--- W-2 & 1099 Filing Deadlines Monday, February 1st ---
The earlier deadlines for filing 2020 tax year W-2 and certain 1099 Forms are coming up fast.
Tax year 2020 continues an accelerated due date for federal W-2 filing. The deadline is February 1, 2021. Employers should ensure all W-2s are submitted on-time to avoid late or non-filing penalties assessed by the IRS.
Many 1099 forms, including the new 1099-NEC for non-employee compensation and 1099-MISC with new reporting requirements this year are also due on February 1st.
After W-2s (if you have employees), the requirement to report nonemployee compensation is the most common information filing requirement for most small businesses.
The many other IRS information returns for which a business could be responsible have varying deadlines.
For more information on how this may affect your small business tax requirements, check with your tax advisor and/or payroll service.
