W-2 & 1099 Filing Deadlines January 31st
The earlier deadlines for filing W-2 and certain 1099 Forms are coming up fast.
Tax year 2019 continues an accelerated due date for federal W-2 filing. The deadline is January 31, 2020. Employers should ensure all W-2s are submitted on-time to avoid late or non-filing penalties assessed by the IRS.
Form 1099-MISC (with Box 7 nonemployee compensation checked) - is now due on January 31st - both to employees and to the government.
After W-2s (if you have employees), the requirement to report nonemployee compensation is the most common information filing requirement for most small businesses.
The many additional IRS information returns for which a business could be responsible have varying deadlines.
For more information on how this may affect your small business tax requirements, check with your tax advisor and/or payroll service.
