Vulnerable girls

Today, the Zero Dropout Campaign spoke about the gendered impact of economic shocks and school closures. They noted that:

?? During the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone, adolescent pregnancy increased by up to 65% in some communities

?? In many cases, the burden of domestic responsibilities triggered dropout among girls in countries hard hit by Ebola

?? After an oil and production crisis in Venezuela, the number of girls that were out of school increased by 60 percent

There is a call for us all to work together to help vulnerable girls to stay in, and succeed at, school; and at Community Keepers we are working hard to build connections and a culture of well-being where learners feel supported. Some ideas on how you can support our work include:

1. Tweet #MentalHealthMatters to destigmatize mental health.

2. Be kind and caring to yourself, your family, your friends and your staff.

3. Sign up as a volunteer https://www.forgood.co.za/causes/community-keepers

4. Make a donation via Snapscan or Zapper or EFT https://communitykeepers.org/donate/

5. Subscribe to our newsletter https://communitykeepers.org/contact/

6. Share one of our videos from our resource library on your social media platforms https://communitykeepers.org/resources/
