The VQ Business Plan Launch Night
We’ve recently launched our official business plan, and here’s everything you need to know about it.?
The plan was officially launched last Wednesday, the 23rd of November at The Metropole Hotel Cork , located in the heart of The VQ. Guests enjoyed an evening of catching up with neighbours and friends, and finding out more information about the plan which will begin to roll out in the new year. The Lord Mayor of Cork Deirdre Forde attended the event, as well as Councillors and representatives of the business community from The VQ and beyond.
Here at The VQ, we pride ourselves on being a thriving community of businesses within Cork City Centre. Despite already being a bustling neighbourhood, we have our sights set on a future filled with expansion and growth. In 2023, we hope to bring the success of the community to new heights, transforming the area into Ireland’s most progressive urban village, set within one of Europe’s most vibrant small cities. Our hope is to be the liveliest, most sustainable and best-connected neighbourhood in Ireland.?
Now, how exactly do we plan on accomplishing this??

On the night of the launch, our Director of Operations Shane Clarke , walked the guests through exactly how The VQ plans on bringing our vision of greatness to life. Clarke explained how our new business plan is structured with five strategic priorities, three delivery partnerships and three objectives, which set the community on track to grow towards our goals over the next year and beyond. The Lord Mayor commented that “the breadth of vision is well thought-out” and that “Cork City Council looks forward to engaging and working with The VQ as the city enters a period of transformational change”.?We are very grateful for the Lord Mayor’s support, as well as the support of the Cork City Council - Comhairle Cathrach Chorcaí and Fáilte Ireland .
At its core, The VQ is about community. As part of our business plan, we have nominated a Board of Directors comprised of eight business owners and community members from the area. Under the guidance of this board, local businesses, developers, landlords, and community organisations can become members of The VQ and join us in our forward-march towards a thriving future. As members, they will receive many benefits including event promotion and marketing, access to a variety of networks and forums and support in the acquisition of business support funding. Moreover, members will be contributing to a better-connected, more sustainable and livelier future for the already bustling VQ neighbourhood.?
2023 should be an exciting year for us here across the bridge, and we hope you will join us in our exciting endeavours!

2 年One of the standout nights of my career. What was perhaps most heartening was the diversity of those attending. The Lord Mayor of Cork City of course, but also the local Italian restaurant, the Presbyterian Church, local residents, local councillors and the business community - from those that have called the neighbourhood home for over 100 years to those that have invested in recent months. We have metrics galore but at heart this is about a community articulating its vision and working in partnership to achieve it. #BetterTogether!
