Vp and Density from Post Stack Inversion? Yes!
Done!
The very first Seismic Post-Stack Inversion algorithm that allows estimating Velocity and Density separately is in production; with no well logs data required!
Artificial kinematic constrains, simulated annealing and global optimisations are used as the basis for the algorithm.
For the 20 years of history, Pre Stack Solutions-Geo was known for developing simple efficient solutions for geo exploration. The new Rune’ Inversion R&D project is accomplished!
Post Stack Inversion of deterministic approach, allows to predict Impedance only (P-imp=Vp*Dn). Pre-Stack Inversion of deterministic approach, allows to predict Impedance (P-imp=Vp*Dn, S-imp=Vs*Dn) and Density that is normally very poor resolved from AVO inversion.
Stochastic Inversion gives better visual resolution, however mathematical variations often exceed geological logic, and the results are anyway average to deterministic approach.
The proposed algorithm can be used by geologist that have Seismic Stack and Stacking velocities to invert for Vp and Density for a whole seismic section or a cube. Dropped Density in rocks, lets us to see e.g. gas reservoirs easy. Further, Density can help to predict other lithology parameters.
There are reservoirs where density is the key factor for lithology and fluid prediction (see Picture). At the reservoir level Density drops down while Vp remains high making Impedance analysis useless. Deterministic or Stochastic Post-Stack Inversions that normally would be used in a first exploration stage will not separate reservoirs. Pre-Stack Inversion is needed. In this case Post Stack Rune’ Inversion is a choice to run.
The implementation will be demonstrated at the second AGR hiQbe? seminar on "Geology from Velocity", held at Engineerium in Fornebu. Quality Hotel Expo, Snar?yveien 20, 1360 Fornebu. May 15.
PSS-Geo provides services. For oil companies, it is possible to acquire framed solutions (plug-in to work station).
Is this algorithm using as input only post-stack seismic without any prestack and well data?

5 年actually this is very interesting in terms of discovery but there is something that cross my mind.Is it necessary to make Vp and Density inversion from post-stack?? what motivate you to make Vp and Density inversion from post-stack?? is it because it requires additional cost to obtain pre-stack data??
