What I learned this week:
I hope you have either voted early or plan to do the time-honored activity of going to a voting station tomorrow and providing your input to change in your city and country. I used to hear people say that they don’t have time or that their vote doesn’t matter. You know what? You are right. Your vote doesn’t matter unless it is executed. You don’t have time if it isn’t a priority. Elections are also an excellent opportunity to educate yourself on what is happening and what others think. I love hearing differing opinions. I’ve never been an arguer or debater. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want to hear different opinions. The more I self-reflect, the more I am comfortable accepting other people's thoughts. That doesn’t mean I agree with them. We can all adapt to an openness when we believe what we believe. Trust and acceptance come in many forms, but they all start with ourselves. The stronger we are in our own beliefs, the more we can listen to others. For me, it always goes to the why. I want to understand what the root of your belief is. When you know what your own belief root is, your foundation of belief is that much stronger, and when your belief is strong, then hearing someone else’s opinion isn’t a threat. It becomes an understanding. The more confidence in yourself, the more acceptance of others there can be. Tomorrow night, when the results are in, know that people are different and have different beliefs, and different beliefs lead to different perceptions and opinions. God Bless America.
Planning thought of the week:
The simplest plan is the best plan. Over complication and an abundance of detail can make the plan difficult to follow. A plan of execution that has the details of an Ikea flat pack dresser assembly can seem like the right thing when you are in the office. There is a reason that once you start assembling the dresser you have to keep the instructions open and follow each step closely, it’s complicated! If you have a plan that requires your team to walk around with the plan open for them to know what the next step is, you might have created an Ikea dresser and not a plan to grow your business.
Business idea I heard about or thought of:
I’m thinking instead of starting a business that makes millions of dollars as a side gig, that the way to go may be to write about those businesses. It’s like the guy who sells you the course that made him a millionaire. The reality is he had some success, but his real business is selling that course. Convincing you that you can become a millionaire just like him. Yes, some of these bubbas really are teaching you the steps that worked for them. I love that because they are sharing their knowledge to help others. That’s the number one reason we created the Green Beret Leadership Program (GBLP). Sharing our knowledge and experience to help others achieve even more is what I believe in and helps me fulfill my purpose. We believe that leadership is a skill that requires continuous effort to keep your edge. GBLP is just one of thousands of ways to keep your leadership edge sharp. One hour a week spread over three months to make you a better leader.
Thanks for your input on creating a new tribe within our larger Tribe + Purpose community. I look forward to sharing more and working with you to achieve your success. ?
Veteran opportunity of the week:
OK, freebie hunters, it’s time to start planning your free coffee, donuts, lunch, and dinner. Get in front of the curve and use the most valuable skill you have from your service, the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP). Build that synch matrix with decision points based on wait lines, freebie value, and distance to the next stop. I know you will crush it! ??????
Someone I met this week:
My good friend Rob Raymond introduced me to Mamie almost a year ago. It wasn’t until the last month or so that we got to sit down and talk about life and business. It was worth the wait. Mamie Lamely is a speaker and trainer in sales and leadership for Fortune 500 companies. That’s great and there are a ton of those around the world. The thing that clicked for me when we were talking is Mamie an idea person. Not far out ideas, practical and executable ideas that will help grow both of our businesses. I’m excited for where these ideas will take us and who we can help.
