Volvo Group and Vestas announce innovative partnership to accelerate decarbonization in transport
At #COP27 today, Andrea Fuder, Executive Vice President, and Chief Purchasing Officer at Volvo Group, announces a pioneering partnership with Vestas, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions. It marks another milestone in Volvo Group’s industry-leading journey to cut carbon emissions across all areas of its business.
Today’s announcement is the first step in a close working relationship that will focus on the potential synergies and joint development opportunities between Volvo Group and Vestas.?Collaboration potential includes broadening access to green electricity and green hydrogen. This will include the development of green hydrogen solutions to fuel commercial vehicles based on the localized production of green hydrogen utilizing clean energy produced by Vestas wind turbines.
Partnerships for progress
“We are firm believers that partnership is the new leadership, and we continue to explore avenues which will enable us to meet our science-based targets according to the ambitious timeframe we have already committed to. The partnership with Vestas brings together two significant value chains – the transport and renewable energy sectors – to accelerate sustainable progress, which will, in turn, support the continuing evolution of commercially available battery-electric and fuel cell-electric vehicles. The partnership reflects clear progress toward our commitment to be climate-neutral and achieve a net-zero value chain and greenhouse gas emissions by 2040,” Fuder said.
The announcement, made today during a meeting of the First Movers Coalition, of which Volvo Group is a founding member, represents a clear step in the right direction for the transport industry as whole, according to Fuder. The partnership with Vestas is just the latest that Volvo Group has committed to in recent times.
“We already have productive partnerships with companies outside of the transport sector such as SSAB where we source fossil-free steel, and Samsung SDI, where we source battery cells, allowing us to drive significant low-carbon innovations. And, of course, we also have our work with Traton Group and Daimler Trucks, where we are jointly building a robust charging infrastructure across Europe for trucks and buses,” Fuder concluded.

1 年This is a good time to get to know me (Mr. Charlton K. DeShazo) a little better; where my Nobel discoveries of creating a flying machine that could be flown around the world without the need to land for RECHARGING, what could better be said of the designs for NACELLS to be able to generate electricity instead of just propelling JETS, and producing CONTRAILS Rolls Royce should be on the case of awarding me ROYALTIES for these phonomimes.
