Volvo EC950FL working on the $744M Springbank off-stream reservoir project in Alberta

The Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir (SR1) will provide flood protection along the Elbow River in Calgary and other downstream communities as part of an overall flood mitigation system.

The?SR1?project has been designed to work in tandem with the Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary to accommodate water volumes equal to the 2013 flood on the Elbow River.

SR1 will reduce flood risk by managing downstream river flow rates and volume. This goal will be met while protecting the river, critical habitats, fish, and wildlife.

VINCI Construction Canada was awarded the $379 Million contract for this project, which is scheduled to be partially completed in 2024 and expected to be fully completed in 2025. VINCI Construction Canada has started working on the Springbank Project in Alberta using the Volvo EC950FL for production excavation and truck loading. Strongco delivered the first of two Volvo EC950FL excavators in May of 2022, along with multiple Volvo support excavators in the 45ton and 25ton size class.?
