Volunteers Week June 1-7

1. What is your name and a bit about you - hobbies and interests. An Interesting fact about you as a person.??

Imogen Bach.?I am from Guernsey. I love to go on cliff walks with my two dogs, especially when the sun is shining! I also love to travel. My?favourite?places which I have visited are very different, but I would have to say Venice, as it is just beautiful and a really special place to visit and Japan - the country is so varied depending on where you go to, and it is so different to anywhere else I have visited in the world. The people are also so polite, and welcoming – it is an incredible place.??

2. What is your role at/ for GET and what does it involve???

My role at GET is social media assistant, I work alongside Elaine?Strappini?to help GET to come up with ideas for social media posts, design artwork to accompany those posts, and assist with managing the pages.??

3. What made you want to volunteer for GET???

I found out about the role from one of my friends, who was a client of GET. I work in marketing fulltime, and as a part of my role I manage my employer’s social media. Therefore, this role seemed like the perfect opportunity to transfer those skills to help a really well-deserving charity. The work that GET do is really incredible, and it makes me extremely proud to be able to do my part in supporting them.??

4. What tips or advice (if any) do you have for others looking to volunteer???

Make sure you choose to volunteer for a charity or a cause that you can really get behind, because that will make it so much easier to help them in whichever role you can during your free time.??

At the same time, be realistic about how much you can do – especially alongside fulltime work – and don’t overpromise on what you can deliver.??
