VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED TO HELP STAGE GARMA 2021

The Yothu Yindi Foundation is pleased to invite applications from hard-working volunteers to help stage this year’s Garma Festival.

The 21st annual Garma will take place from Friday 30 July – Monday 2 August, 2021, at Gulkula, in north-east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.

Volunteers play a vital role in the preparation and delivery of Garma and its many daily activities, and are required to assist with transportation, ticketing and reception, merchandise, campsite infrastruc- ture and operations, site management, security and administration.

While the pandemic threat remains, the health and safety of our people and our guests is YYF’s highest priority, and volunteers will also be required to help implement and maintain a number of strict COVID compliance measures around the Garma grounds to help protect those on site.

As we seek to limit the number of people travelling to the NT from interstate, priority will be given to local applicants, along with those whose applications were accepted last year and those who have volunteered at Garma before.

This a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in large-scale event operations in a unique bush setting at one of Australia’s premier cultural festivals. Those with a willingness to work hard, be a team player, and ‘go the extra mile’ when necessary are encouraged to apply.

Volunteers will be required to organise and fund their own travel arrangements to and from Gove, and will be required to arrive on Sunday 25 July, and depart Thursday 5 August.

You must also undergo a criminal history check, obtain a clearance to work with children from NT WorkSafe, and be willing to take a COVID test before arriving on site.
