We invite you to join us in helping hold another exciting year of IMechE Formula Student as over 130 teams from around the world prepare to compete in the 26th competition held on 17-21 July 2024 at Silverstone Circuit, Northampton in the UK.

Taking place annually since 1998, the UK Formula Student competition continues to develop the next generation of engineering talent by tasking students to design, build and run a single seater race car from scratch, providing an essential opportunity to build their capabilities and skills.

The success of Formula Student is a testament to the growing community of enthusiastic volunteers working across a diverse range of industries who continue to offer their time and expertise to assess students’ work.

Whether during formal presentations of engineering work, vehicle and electric scrutineering, autonomous systems, dynamic events setup, safety marshalling, media and much more, there are multiple opportunities to get involved; further details on all the volunteer roles and responsibilities can be found on the Institution’s website.

While many volunteers have been student competitors or judges before, Formula Student is just as accessible for those judging for the first time. Newcomers are often paired with experienced hands to get used to the processes involved so they can get up to speed and enjoy being a part of the Formula Student community during the event.
