Women’s History Month

Happy Women’s History Month! Women’s History Month is not just a celebration but a month to spark change to empower girls, uplift their voices, and create a more equitable society. Worldwide, girls are treated second to boys. Did you know only 1.8% of all charitable giving goes to women and girls’ organizations? Together, we can ensure girls get a bigger piece of the pie and create a brighter future for all. Our programs provide girls with the platforms and resources they need to speak up for their rights in their homes, schools, and communities. We are asking you to invest in programs that allow girls to dream big by supporting our Never the Last campaign. Together, we can support the next generation of women leaders!

STF Race for Gender Equality

Seven years ago at the age of 14, Sirjana organized a 5k in her hometown in rural Nepal to raise awareness for girls’ rights. Today, Sirjana is a college student and former Nepal National Women’s Football team member still making waves in her country. This year, for International Women’s Day on March 8th, she continued the tradition and organized a larger race in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. 150 Runners participated, each wearing a bib declaring why gender equity was personally important to them.

In honor of the race Sirjana organized, we asked our followers to run their own races for gender equality this Women’s History Month. Thank you to everyone who laced up (If you haven’t yet, it’s not too late)! Raising awareness for gender equity in your community is critically important to challenging societal barriers that hold girls back. All proceeds will be used to fund our Partner Coalition which supports increased access to feminist mentorship and education for girls in the Global South.

Stay tuned to the STF News blog for the full story and pictures from the race in Nepal!

Be sure to share your photos from your race for gender equality on social media and tag @shesthefirst and #ProgressFeelsLike to share your vision for a brighter future for girls and women everywhere.

Pretty Powerful Fund

One of She’s the First’s most long-lasting partnerships is with the Bobbi Brown Pretty Powerful Fund. Over the past 4 years, we have received over 1 million dollars in grants to support education, mentorship, and activism programs for girls. Since then, we have seen a 200% increase in the number of girls we serve and have evolved our model to better address the barriers that keep girls out of school.?

On March 5th, our Co-Founder and CEO, Tammy Tibbetts , had the opportunity to celebrate our partnership in a room full of women entrepreneurs, leaders, founders, and creators. Thank you Bobbi Brown Cosmetics for giving us the opportunity to celebrate the power of women and girls ahead of International Women’s Day. We are proud to be a partner of the Pretty Powerful Fund!

Corporate Spotlight

This month, we would like to highlight OUAI ! For International Women’s Day, OUAI made a generous donation of $50,000 to She’s the First. As a woman-founded company, OUAI recognized the incredible power of saying OUAI, or YES! to girls who more often hear the word no. This year, STF’s goal is to say yes to 170,000 girls around the globe! This support will go a long way in making sure girls have access to feminist mentorship, education, and reproductive health education.?Check out OUAI’s recent blog post to learn more about the impact of our partnership!

The Setback Cycle

In mid-March, author and longtime supporter of She’s the First, Amy Shoenthal , published The Setback Cycle which offers guidance on how to take yourself through your toughest moments and forge a stronger path forward. After just two weeks, The Setback Cycle has already been named a bestseller! We are so grateful that Amy chose to shine her light on She’s the First as The Setback Cycle’s non-profit partner. In honor of Amy’s commitment to STF, her publisher Regalo Press will be making a donation to She’s the First.

To maximize the impact, Amy went above and beyond by creating a book launch fundraiser benefiting She’s the First. Learn more about Amy, The Setback Cycle and the book launch fundraiser here.
