Avnet Silica's Embedded World 2024 Highlights
We'd like to thank those who stopped by the Avnet Silica stand during this year's Embedded World. 2024 was a record year for embedded world, with 32,000 visitors from 80 countries, and 1,100 exhibitors. Avnet Silica showcased 14 demos on the stand, and held a record 353 meetings across the 3 days.
In case you missed some of the event highlights, you can catch up with them below:
The Matter Revolution is here
In an era where connectivity and convenience dominate consumer expectations, the smart home concept has rapidly evolved from a futuristic fantasy to a tangible reality. Yet, amidst the plethora of smart devices flooding the market, a significant challenge persists: compatibility. Consumers often encounter frustrating barriers due to disparate standards and protocols as they seek to integrate various smart products into their homes. Recognising this hurdle, the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) introduced Matter, an ambitious initiative poised to revolutionise the smart home experience.
The Future of IoT Networking - Wirepas
Wirepas focuses on the wireless massive internet-of-things (IoT) connectivity, and the technology connects today around 10 million devices in many applications, including smart metering, smart building, smart tracking and smart manufacturing. Wirepas is the creator of the recently standardised DECT NR+ that has received the 5G stamp from the ITU consortium. This is the first non-cellular 5G technology that does not require an operator to be deployed. Today, Wirepas has more than 200 licensees, including shipping giant Maersk, telecommunications operator Orange and the Fagerhult Lighting Group, and its strong licencing partner ecosystem continues to grow.

GasVisor wins the Advanced Electronics Challenge
In 2023 we heard from hundreds of innovative startups who wanted to participate in this year's Advanced Electronics Challenge, in collaboration with BayStartUP and Renesas Electronics .
Fast forward to the 10th of April at Embedded World 2024 and our three finalists were showcasing their solutions for the final time as part of the challenge. A huge congratulations to GasVisor who walked away as our Advanced Electronics Challenge champions. They convinced the judges with their solution for automating the level measurement and ordering process of CO2 gas cylinders. The system enables customers to use resources more efficiently and significantly reduce their CO2 footprint.
Avnet Silica scoops multiple partner supplier awards
Relationships are at the very core of what drives success at Avnet Silica and what better way to reinforce this by receiving two awards from partner suppliers during Embedded World?
The NXP Excellence Award was presented to Avnet Silica for outstanding growth in the EMEA region, while Avnet Silica was also recognised as one of Nexperia's distributors with the highest number of parts sold in EMEA in 2023 , with shipments of more than 2.8 billion devices.

This quarter is very similar to the previous one. Except for some memory product families such as DRAM, eMMC and NAND Flash, we see a pricing and lead time stabilisation, suggesting we are at the bottom of the market downturn.
We invite our customers to make the most of the short and stable lead times currently available, as we believe market forces will generate subsequent uplifts.Beside the natural cycle, macroeconomic influences are still creating an impact, such as the recent earthquake in Taiwan. This can lead to uncertainty within the industry, further aggravating potential supply restrictions.
Investments, stimulated by previous severe constraints, have led to the construction of the 3rd fab in the US, reinforcing continuity of availability, with initial products expected to come off the production lines 1st half of 2025.
