VOL 1 - ISSUE 1
Safe Events Global
We are Event People who specialise in Safety. Our professional passion is keeping people safe at events. We do it well.
We're going to take a run at a regular newsletter here on LinkedIn. This is a new feature, I think. If it isn't, I only became clued into it recently.
The idea will be to provide various pieces of content that you might find useful or helpful. I'll play around with some standard elements like 'Something we Like', 'Something we Spotted' etc. like you'll see below.
I will always try to include things that will hold value for people working in #eventsafety #crowdsafety and #events more generally.
That's the plan.
Let us know how we're doing! We are always looking to be better.
Let's see how we go!
Cheers.

Involve Event Consultants Early - 11 Benefits
We've just published an article over on our website entitled 'Involve Event Consultants Early - 11 Benefits'.
To be honest, we need not have stopped at 11, I reckon. Sometimes I think this should not need spelling out. Other times I just think 'Let's spell it out, if that helps people.'.
So.
We've spelled it out.

We are forever saying how safety people should be involved from the outset. When that happens, the opportunity to design out risk is so much greater. We discussed that in our 'What is Safety By Design for Events?' article, which we published a while back.
Bother at Boardmasters
You've probably heard about the crowd collapse that happened at Boardmasters recently. It's been in the news and a lot of people have been talking about it.
Mark McQuade put up a LinkedIn post, which includes a video of the collapse. Watch carefully and you can see a PA stack fall when the wave hits it too.
Check it out.
It's as good a video / evidence of crowd waves as I've seen in many years.
It's probably something we should do an article about at some point too, actually.
P.S. if you don't already follow Mark on here, I suggest you do.
'I don't even like the beer!'
Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic, launched the Electric Picnic Festival recently here in Ireland.
He has been getting some criticism online due to a craft brewery local to the Electric Picnic venue being annoyed they can't sell their beer at the festival.
He says he doesn't like the beer so queries why he'd be expected to have it at the festival if he doesn't like it.
I mean. He has a point, right?

5-day Email Course on Capacity Calculation
This one has been available for a while but, in case you're not clued into it, sign up here.
We are actually working on an update to it that will be much more interactive and will step things up a bit. That's the plan.
In the meantime you can join the thousands of people who have done this version of it and who have gotten loads from at. You can read some thoughts from people who have done it on this LinkedIn post.
Helping us all be safer
The folks at Mind Over Matter Consultancy wrote the short post below with some superb input from Pete Dalton.
In it, Pete signposts some great guidance to help us all counter terror attack risks at our events.
He did this in light of the recent foiled attack planned for the Taylor Swift concerts scheduled in Austria.
P.S. if you don't already follow Pete on here, I suggest you do.
Thinking dangerous sports shouldn't be made reasonably safe
This was the topic of a recent 2-Minute Thought video I did.
Why is there a seemingly prevailing attitude among the public that people involved in dangerous sports shouldn't expect reasonable safety measure to be in place?
Check out the short video below and leave a comment and let me know what you think.
Cheers.
Event Site Design regular email
Rupert and the team over at ESD have started putting out some great, regular content. If you're not already engaged with them on here, I suggest you take a look.
This one caught my eye recently - 'Is AI set to take over the events industry?'
What do you think?
