VOL 1 - ISSUE 6
Safe Events Global
We are Event People who specialise in Safety. Our professional passion is keeping people safe at events. We do it well.
So issue 6 is late.
That's going to happen sometimes, I reckon, when we are really busy operationally. Hope that doesn't annoy you too much.
? So, what got in the way of this one going out when it should have?
There was more too, but you get the idea.
Let's crack on.
The team at Safe Events Global
Was it an invisible ghost parade?
Did you hear the one about LOADS of people turning up on Dublin's main street (O'Connell Street) for a Halloween parade that was never happening?!
It's gas the things people lie about on social media and online in general.
Let's be ready
Charlie Mussett - TechIOSH, MIIRSM posted this on here recently.
We are big believers in being ready for things.
Having a Bleed Control Kit in with your event kit is quite a good idea.
? Do you have one?
You should consider it!
Scapegoats? Not us!
I know we are not the only ones (1) to whom this happens and / or (2) that feel about it as we do.
Recently a Local Authority here in Ireland approached us to put a quote together for the event pretty much telling us 'we need scapegoats there on the day in case it goes wrong'.
They didn't quite SAY that, but check out the video at the post below and you'll get the idea.
We're professionals, and we don't believe professionals would engage in the manner requested here.
? What do you think?
Come work with us
We've recently announced a placement opportunity here in Safe Events Global for a student.
We have done these many times in the past and they're always worked out really well for us. We've not done it for a couple of years so we are excited about getting back at it.
We've had loads of applicants already.

There's still time to apply, as we don't close to applications for another 8 days.
Seems to have been some show
As event professionals based in Ireland and working predominantly there and in the Middle East, we don't have the Showman's Show as a ficture on our annual calendar the way most of our UK colleagues do.
As such, we miss out largely on all the buzz about it each year when ye are all getting set to go.
Loads of great industry people and companies we know seem to have been there, including Rupert Bassadone ???? and his teams at Event Site Design as well as Ops People . Paul Griffin was there as were so many of our new friends over at NOWIE - The Network of Women in Events CIC
We're fielding inquiries etc. for work in the UK, so who know.
We may see you good folk there next year.
Halo steps it up again
Lloyd Major MSc and the team at Halo Solutions made a nice little announcement lately.
Their software now includes #HaloFusion, which fully empowers and equips teams operating in different departments etc. to share task and incidents etc.
No longer do you need to deal with different departments all on different systems.
The best thing about it is that it rolls out for free to clients already using Halo too.
We love Halo and how the team in the approaches what it does, so much that we invested in it recently .
So, yes. Of course we are biased.
That doesn't mean it's not good though.
Regrets? I have none.
Eric Kant, MSc is a Crowd Safety professional who works around the world.
Now, that is.
Up until a year ago he was a police officer in the Netherlands.
He recently published a post on LinkedIn reflecting on his decision to leave and become a full-time freelancer.
It's an interesting post, especially if you're thinking about / wondering about / dreaming about freelancing and doing your own thing.
Check it out.
