The team at Safe Events Global

Getting into events in the Middle East

One of the most enjoyable things about operating in the Middle East for us here in Safe Events Global, is being involved in education and training.

The opportunities available to young Saudi nationals in particular are amazing currently.

This BEAST ED Career Path Programme that our client MDLBEAST is delivering is a prime example. Funded training for people in Saudi looking to learn and thrive in the event industry.

The demand for this type of programme is significant, which is very encouraging.

You can see a post below about it and we've also written this blog post with more detail around the course contents etc.

Minding Creative Minds

MCM describes itself as 'an organisation established to offer a free 24/7 wellbeing & support programme for any individual of the creative sector based in Ireland and Irish creatives abroad.'

They do superb work and provide support to creatives, including event industry professionals for free.

Here at Safe Events Global we support them financially each year to help them do what they do. Specifically we are involved in the annual conference and Mentorship programme.

Check out what they do and if you're not based in Ireland maybe check if there's something similar where you are.

There are great people and great organisations in this great indsutry of ours.

We ALL need some help sometimes.

Sunset in Saudi

Check out this video of a sunset over the Soundstorm festival site.

One of the many reasons we love working in the Middle East is the stunning scenery and sunsets.

This video is stunning both for the sunset and the vista it provides of the Soundstorm site, which is one of the most amazing festival grounds on the planet, for sure.

What's your take on vehicles as HVM?

This was one of those posts that got way more traction than I expected.

The topic of Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) for events is always one where people have lots of strongly-held opinions.

You can check out the blog post 'HVM for Events - Are Vehicles Appropriate?', which is what I shared, which sparked the conversation below on LinkedIn then.

Feel free to get involved in the conversation and let us know what you think too.

This great Crowd Safety article

Ise Murphy-Morris, as well as being a good person, is an experienced and qualified Crowd Safety Professional.

She wrote this article entitled 'So, What is Crowd Safety?'.

It's a great article and includes a wide range of academic references too, which can point you towards other good information on the topic.

If you're not already connected with Ise, I suggest you check out her work and what she does. She is particularly focused on Zone Ex currently, which is definitely an area of study that we can all benefit from a greater understanding of.

Making it easy for people to forge certificates

This post got some interesting comments from a lot of good event professionals.

Having seen someone post a cert from a recent course they completed with only their individual learner / cert number blocked out - I found myself wondering what is reasonable for us to block out if sharing certs.

This is one of those things where I think my line might be more extreme than other people's lines and I may be a bit harsh.

Have a read and let me know what you think!

The Events Insight Podcast

We've been fans of the Events Insights Podcast for many years now.

Jack and Karen are good event professionals and they put a lot of time and effort into the podcast series.

There are some superb episodes going back over the years on it too so be sure to check them out.

They've had some superb guests on.

There aren't many podcasts in the events space so we like that they do this one.
