The Voices of Future Engineering Leaders
I hope you enjoyed listening to Sophie's interview. What I'm going to do with each one of these series is not only are you going to listen to our student engineer or our young professional, but then we're going to think about something that they said and where can we find something that we can maybe extrapolate or think more about.?
Being a Role Model
In Sophie's case, I met her when she was a senior in high school, and now she's in an engineering program in college. Even as a high school student, she was so aware of how she could be a role model for this profession that she already figured out she wants to be a part of. It’s so exciting to hear her say that she can work with high school students or she can work with other women in her field, to excite them about being an engineer, staying with the program, and being part of a profession that really can give back.
Energizing the Engineering Profession
I hope as we work with these young students, and the more that we talk to people through this series, that their energy and excitement for what they're doing, will be something that will continue to energize all of us within the profession.? And that it will remind us that anybody can be a role model. Anybody who has that energy and passion and wants to go out and share that, should be empowered to do that.?
We should be excited for what they can bring to the table.? We should nurture that and give them those avenues to be role models. I look forward to what Sophie will do in the future.
