Voices 2023 nr 3 OUR STREETS NOW
Two sisters, 15 and 21, spoke about how they experience the world as young women. About feeling afraid walking home at night. About being harassed in their school uniform. About how their lives were restricted by the fear of harassment.
Green School Voices. A Collection of Performance Pieces Amplifying Diverse Voices and Sharing Stories of Solidarity Strength and Survival. Performed by High school students, teachers and staff of Green School Bali. 18 deeply moving and shocking performances. I make a deep bow for the guts and courage of the cast and another one for their outstanding performance. In the next weeks I will share all I have heard and watched. I tried to find the original sources of the texts. I reach out to you, reader of this article, and hope and wish that you will share it too. On your own style and way. So that the Voices can be heard and heard and heard all over again.
Mind you that all of the texts are from, about, and experienced by children and young adults! My deepest respect and gratitude go to them; the survivors. At some point, their suffering gave them the courage to step forward. Remember that!
This courage will help others to step forward, and bystanders to listen to watch to acknowledge to share and to help.
At Green School Voices outstanding performance and strong texts by: Angie Kilbane, Emma Titley, Izabelle Rose, Pitt Blower, Noor Siemonsma, Harper Lee Penrose, Putu Manika Tirta Maharani, Kyan Kassel Zabriskie, Avell Maudsien.
