The Voice of the People – The Voice of the Patient
The last speaker at the South and Southeast Asia Summit on Patient centricity spoke about the Voice of the Patient.
He applied the Anna Karenina Principle to patient centricity.
Just as “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way” in a similar fashion; “Happy patients are all alike; every unhappy patient is unhappy in his/her own way”.
And the unhappy patients are predominant as shown in several surveys across the world.
And that’s where the role of pharma companies comes in.
He created the persona of a patient 2035 and the challenge which the doctors have to accept is that the future patients are enlightened patients who are ready to challenge the doctors. It has to be an adult-to-adult communication and no longer the parent-to-child communication.
He spoke about how pharma companies can bring all external stake-holders together.
He also recommended that the voice of the patient should be listened to even during the drug development stage
