Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust
A fantastic place to work
To honour and recognise our amazing frontline staff, the Clinical and Practice network hosted ‘The Voice of Frontline Staff’ event on Wednesday 14 June. It was a day filled with celebration where we heard from inspiring speakers who showcased a range of projects that are making a real difference in improving the lives of our patients.
During the day, we heard from a range of expert speakers including Carolyn Fleurat who discussed the Green Wellbeing Project. This project focuses on making our care homes more sustainable and reducing carbon emissions, making a healthier and more environmentally friendly living environment for the people we care for.
We also heard from Janette Walsh from the Palliative Rehab AHP System-wide network. The network brings together our Allied Health Professionals to enhance support for patients in palliative care. Through better collaboration and sharing of knowledge, the network focuses on providing more comprehensive and personalised care for patients.
Mike Brooks, Patient Engagement and Experience Champion & Lived Experience Ambassador, emphasized the importance of listening to the patient voice, “If we know more, and understand more, then we can do more”. Involving patients in their care decisions is crucial, and MPFT are committed to providing patient-centred care by better understanding their needs.
Dawn Statham and Leanne Kenney showcased Strengths Based Practice in Social Care, and explained how the approach focuses on empowering our patients to determine an outcome that draws on our patient’s strengths and assets. By doing this, we enable them to take an active role in their care journey and achieve better outcomes.
We also heard from Wendy Timmerman from our Safeguarding team who showcased the support system we have in place to help our staff raise concerns and ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients.
Rebecca Beal from Quality Improvement in Health and Care shared how "Small changes can make a big impact.” She highlighted MPFT’s commitment to continuously improve our services and outcomes to provide the best possible care to our patients.
Then we heard from Alison Wooten from the Neurology Network who showcased the network which was established to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing among neurology professionals. This network allows us to improve patient care and advance research in the field.
