Every morning and evening we say a verse from our Parsha (Devarim - Deuteronomy 6, 5):

????? ?? ?' ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ???? ????

And you shall love the Lord, your G-D, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your means.

Who needs this?!?

Why are we doing this?!?

Does G-D need our love and fondness?!?

G-D is infinite and complete, why do we need to love and adore G-D?!?

Although, they're many reasons and lots of depth and profoundness here, we will just touch it with our finger tips and bring one reason, by the Sefas Emes:

???' ????? ????? ????? ??"? ????"? ??? ????? ????? ??? ??? ????? ??? ?????? ??"? ??' ????? ????? ????? ?????? ????? ??????.

When we awaken love and affection within ourselves to G-D, we awaken kindness, benevolence and compassion from G-D to us and to the whole world.

(G-D created human in the image of G-D, which means we have tremendous power and an impact on the whole universe, see "If you were G-D" by Reb Aryeh Kaplan 1983 NCSY/OU).

Let's conclude with inspiring words of the Sefas Emes:

??? ???? ???? ??? ????? ?????? ??? ????? ?????. ????"? ??? ????? ???. ???? ???? ????? ????? ????. ???? ??? ????? ??????? ????? ????????. ???? ????? ?????? ??????? ????"? ???? ?????? ??"? ?????? ???? ???? ???? ?????? ?????? ??"?: (??"? ???"?)

How moved should every Jew be by this Mitzva of loving G-D, that the Almighty G-D, seeks and requests ?us Jews to love Him, this is a phenomenon and marvels all angels.

This is all because G-D wants us to attach ourselves to Divinity and rise ourselves above this world and all it's nonsense, and connect ourselves to G-Dliness!
